Southern Illinois Plays Host to Indiana State in December MVC Showdown

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois basketball will welcome Indiana State Wednesday evening for Missouri Valley Conference action. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. from Banterra Center. Tickets can be purchased by clicking HERE.

THE BROADCAST
• The game will be available nationally on ESPN Plus with Noah Reed (play-by-play) and Mike Trude (analyst) calling the action.
• The radio broadcast can be heard on the Saluki Radio Network with SIU Hall of Famer Mike Reis (play-by-play) and Rodney Watson (analyst) on the call.

• A victory against Indiana State would give head coach Bryan Mullins his 50th career win. He would become the 10th coach in program history to reach 50 wins.

THE MATCHUP
• Wednesday night's game against Indiana State will mark the 142nd meeting between the Salukis and Sycamores. Southern Illinois leads the all-time series 90-51 and has won 10 of the last 15 meetings, including two-straight games in the series. Southern is 53-11 at home against the Sycamores.

• Indiana State enters the game at 8-1 on the season and winners of four-straight games. The Sycamores are led by graduate transfer guard Courvoisier, McCauley who averages 17.4 points per game. Cameron Henry averages 11 points to go along with 4.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. As a team, ISU distributes the ball well with 16.6 assists per game to lead the MVC.

JOHNSON EARNS MVC NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK HONORS
• Xavier Johnson shot lights out over the past week for the Salukis, converting 13-of-16 shots over two games to finish with an 81.3 field goal percentage, including a 10-of-12 mark from behind the arc. He averaged a team-high 18.5 points and four steals for SIU while also averaging 4.5 rebounds and two assists per game. The Germantown, Maryland native led the Salukis to their first MVC win on the road at Evansville with a 14-point, four rebounds and two steal performance, hitting 5-of-6 shots from the floor and all four attempts from distance. Johnson went on to score a career-high 23 points on the road at Saint Louis after shooting 8-for-10 from the field and 6-for-8 from deep. His six steals and six 3-pointers against the Billikens also set new career-high marks.

DUO CONTINUES TO CLIMB THE CHARTS
• Marcus Domask and Lance Jones continue to climb their way up the SIU all-time scoring list. Domask entered the top-30, now with 1,202 career points while Jones sits 33rd with 1,155 career points.
