Saluki Baseball hosts Arkansas State on Wednesday

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The Southern Illinois University baseball team hosts Arkansas State on Wednesday, March 23 at Itchy Jones Stadium. The two teams met earlier this season, as the Salukis defeated the Red Wolves, 12-5 in Jonesboro, Ark. Southern is fresh off taking two of three from the Illini, while the Red Wolves come into Wednesday's showdown having lost nine-straight.Â

- SIU snapped its first losing streak of the season (2 games) when it beat Illinois last Saturday (11-4) and Sunday (7-5 in 10 innings). Sunday's win was SIU's first walk off win under Coach Lance Rhodes.
- SIU totaled 28 runs on 39 hits in three games vs. Illinois.
- Sunday's win was the 1,982nd win in the Saluki program's 75-year history.
- OF Nathan Bandy led in RBIs (5) and scored 3 runs in the UI series. SS Kaeber Rog was 7 for 15 vs. the Illini.

- SS Kaeber Rog is SIU's top newcomer. As of Tuesday, he was 8th in the MVC in BA (.373), 2nd in H, tied for 3rd in R, and tied for 4th in RBI.
- OF/1B JT Weber is SIU's top hitter. Through Tuesday, he led the MVC in BA (.435), was 1st in hits, was 2nd in HRs, and was 2nd in RBIs.
- Weber (25), Rog (21), and Grey Epps (20) are 3 of the top 5 run scorers in the MVC.
- Weber (8) and Rog (5) are two of the top six HR hitters in the MVC.
- Weber's 8 HRs this season give him 25 home runs in the last two seasons (80 games).

- Four Saluki pitchers combined to no-hit Austin Peay in a 10-0 SIU win on 2/22. SP Ben Riffe (6 IP) combined with relievers Tanner Lewis, Jordan Gould and Kaden Peterson-one inning apiece-to hold the Governors hitless. The Govs stranded 9 baserunners and SIU committed three errors.
