CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The Southern Illinois University baseball team returns home to Itchy Jones Stadium to kick off a five-game homestand with a mid-week against the SEMO Redhawks on Tuesday, April 26 at 6 p.m. The Salukis are fresh off their first series win over Dallas Baptist in program history while the Redhawks have won four-straight coming into Tuesday's tilt. Southern won the first meeting this season between the two programs, as they snapped SEMO's 17-game home win streak with a 3-2 win.

10 wins in 11 games vs. SEMO is the Salukis' best stretch vs. Southeast since they took 11 in a row from SEMO in the 1960s.
SIU is fresh from its first-ever series win vs. MVC power Dallas Baptist. Southern took two of three vs. the Patriots this past weekend in Dallas. SEMO accomplished the same feat to open the 2022 season.
SIU, which finished first or second in every key MVC offensive stat category in 2021, is 2nd in the MVC in BA, #1 in HRs, #1 in R, #1 in RBIs, #1 in hits, and #2 in Slug % in 2022. The Salukis also lead the MVC in walks and are 3rd in the MVC in fewest strikeouts.
SIU is averaging 1.51 HR/G in 2022. It averaged 2.1 HR/G enroute to the school's single season home run record of 84 in 2021. SIU is tied for 26th in the nation in HRs (59). SEMO is tied for 13th with 67 (1.76 per game).

He reached base on a Bradley error in the bottom of the 9th inning at SIU on 4/2/22 driving in the winning run in SIU's 6-5 win. Rodriguez' RBI 2B in the 8th inning won the 4/22/22 game at DBU
