Saluki Softball ranked top-25 nationally in Team GPA

The 2022 Southern Illinois University softball team was recognized for its excellence in the classroom Monday by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, as the Salukis placed 23rd nationally on the 2021-22 Easton/NFCA Division I All-Academic list with a 3.604 grade point average.
SIU's top-25 finish is the 11th-straight for the Salukis dating back to 2011. Overall, Southern has placed in the top-25 in Team GPA 22 times since 1999.
16 of SIU's 20 players from last year's team earned Easton / NFCA Scholar-Athlete honors by posting a GPA above 3.5 for the 2021-22 school year. Emma Austin, Addi Baker, Bailey Caylor, Jenna Christeson, Aubree DePron, Madison Eberle, Danyelle Eilers, Kerrigan Game, Elisabeth Huckleberry, Jenny Jansen, Alexis Rudd, Tori Schullian, Chloe Scroggins, Sidney Sikes, Elizabeth Warwick and Ashley Wood all earned Scholar-Athlete honors.
On the field, the Salukis compiled a 27-19-1 record and earned the third seed in the Missouri Valley Conference tournament- which marked the 21st-straight season in which Southern has earned a top-five seed in the conference tournament.
