
Southern falls to Missouri State on the road

SPRINGFIELD — The Southern Illinois Salukis fell to Missouri State Wednesday as the Bears used a big second half to take down the Dawgs.
SIU led 38-30 at the break but the Bears erupted for 48 points in the second half to take down the Salukis 78-57 to put Southern at 6-8 overall and 3-2 in the Missouri Valley Conference.
Shemera Williams led the Salukis with 17 points while Jaidynn Mason added 13 as the two were the only Dawgs in double figures.
Aniya Thomas led Missouri State with 25 points and 10 assists for a double-double. Jade Masogayo also had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Southern looks to bounce back Saturday when they head to Chicago to take on MVC-newcomer UIC.
