CARBONDALE, Ill.-- Southern Illinois Swimming and Diving will travel to West Lafayette, Indiana to compete in the Purdue Invitational Thursday Nov.16 through Saturday Nov.18.Â
Â
Prelims will begin at 10:30 a.m. and finals will be at 6 p.m. all three days of the meet. The teams competing against SIU will include Purdue, McKendree, Missouri State, Northwestern, Illinois (women), Illinois State (women), and Marshall (women).Â
Â
"We're looking forward to the opportunity to compete at a high level meet with many great teams. The team score won't be of any concern this week for us since we only brought 8 women and 8 men. It will all be about posting our fastest times in individual events and relays" head coach Geoff Hanson said.
Â
The Purdue Invite debuted as a men's only meet in 2003, the Saluki men finished fourth at that meet with 556 points. The women first competed at the Purdue Invitational in 2005, they finished sixth with 208 points. The last time the Salukis competed at the Purdue Invitational was in 2022, the men's team finished in seventh out of seven teams and the women finished ninth out of nine teams.Â
Â
Both the men's and women's teams are coming off dominating wins at the A3 Performance Invitational, both teams finished in first and the women's team had one individual and two relay program records broken. The Salukis also had the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) and the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Swimmer's of the Week this week.Â
Â
There is no livestream for this weekend's meet but live results can be found here and on Meet Mobile. For more information you can also visit the Meet Central Page.Â
