Samattiyadeekul Leads SIU at Bama Beach Bash

Janie Samattiyadeekul posts 74 to lead Salukis at 3-over par.
Southern Illinois women's golf junior Janie Samattiyadeekul shot 74 in the second round of the Bama Beach Bash at the Gulf Shores Golf Club on Monday afternoon. Samattiyadeekul is in fifth place overall and leads the Salukis with a total score of 147 (+3) at the 6,002, par-72 course. SIU finished the day in 11th (+50) with a second round total of 318.
Sophomore Kylee Vaughan is tied for 27th place (+11) with a score of 81 on the day. Freshman Ella Overstreet posted another 80 and is tied for 50th (+16). Senior Secilia Ho is tied for 63rd with a total score of 164 (+20) and Ayanna Habeel shot 83 for a total score of 170 (+26) on the day to round out the Salukis scoring.
Competing as individuals, sophomore Morgan Gindler is tied for 70th with a second round total score of 168 (+24) and junior Adriana Vinterova is in 81st at 191 (+47).Â
The three-day, 54-hole event wraps up the final round on Tuesday. SIU is set to tee off at 8:09 a.m. CT for the last 18 holes. The weather forecast calls for mostly sunny conditions with a high of 66F and 5-10mph east winds. For live scoring, follow along on Golfstat.
