Salukis Drop Series Finale At Belmont

The Bruins broke the 0-0 tie in the bottom of the third inning on a two-run double after a pair of infield singles. After getting out of the jam, Southern was able to answer Belmont's inning with a two-run inning of their own in the top of the fourth. Jackie Lis hit her second home run of the series and 12th of the season after a leadoff single from Aubree DePron to tie the game at 2-2. Freshman Lis leads the Valley with 12 home runs and 33 RBIs.
However, the game wouldn't be tied for long as Belmont would go on to get a run across on an RBI-single in the bottom half of the inning. Down 2-3, Elliott Stinson entered the circle for the Salukis and was able to get out of the inning without giving up any more damage.
Rylie Hamilton went 3-for-3 in the loss as she went 7-for-9 in the series with a pair of doubles and two RBIs. Hamilton is now batting .407 (4th MVC) with 28 RBIs (2nd MVC) as she's tallied at least one hit in the Salukis last seven games.
Still down 2-3 in the top of the seventh inning, Anna Carder led SIU off with a single before being pinch run for by Kerrigan Gamm. Gamm was able to take second on a wild pitch and put herself into scoring position for senior Tori Schullian. On a 3-1 count, Schullian was able to single to center field and drive in the tying run as fellow senior Kerrigan Gamm beat the throw home.
Once again, Belmont answered the Salukis as the Bruins walked the game off in the bottom half of the seventh on a solo home run in the first at-bat of the inning.
Up next for the Salukis is a midweek matchup with Southeast Missouri at Charlotte West Stadium on Tuesday, March 28 at 3 PM.
