MVC Tournament field is set — #6 Salukis host #11 UIC on Wednesday

ST. LOUIS, MO. – The field for the 2023 Missouri Valley Conference Softball Championship is set for this week's tournament in Carbondale, Ill., hosted by Southern Illinois. The Salukis will host UIC on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the opening round.
Northern Iowa won the regular-season championship and is the No. 1 Seed with a 26-1 record against Valley opponents. This is the fifth-time in school history that the Panthers earned the No. 1 Seed. UNI will not play until the quarterfinals at 10 a.m. on Thursday. Missouri State took the tournament's No. 2 seed, while No. 3-seed Illinois State and No. 4 seed Murray State also received a first-round bye.
The winner of No. 6 Southern Illinois and No. 11 UIC will advance to play Illinois State at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
An all-session tournament pass costs $25, with daily passes costing $12. Tickets can be purchased in advance at SIUSalukis.com/Tickets or in-person at Charlotte West Stadium. All 11 games will be televised on ESPN+.
