CARBONDALE, Ill. — Under the leadership of head coach Geoff Hanson, the Southern Illinois University swimming & diving program earned national recognition from the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) for its academic success.
The CSCAA released awards for team and individual academic honors for the 2023 spring semester earlier this week. SIU's men's and women's teams both earned CSCAA Scholar All-America team honors. The women's team was recognized for its 3.48 spring 2023 semester GPA, while the men's side was cited for its 3.31 spring GPA.
Individually, Olivia Herron (Animal Science) and Farida Moussa (Civil Engineering) received second-team CSCAA academic scholar recognition.
To be named second-team, selections needed to earn a GPA of 3.50 or higher and meet the "B" time standard for the national championship or participate in a diving zone qualification meet. All criteria can be found on the CSCAA website.
