CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois University women's basketball team (2-7) fell in its final non-conference game of the season on Sunday vs. UAB, 75-57.
"Overall, I hate the fact that we lost control of it and our offense didn't hit in that second half," head coach Kelly Bond-White said. "But of the effort that they gave us against a solid ball club in the first half, we just have to keep moving and get to three quarters, and hopefully then get a complete game."
At the end of the first half, SIU had a 37-35 lead against a UAB team that entered the game with an 8-3 record. In the second half, the Blazers out-scored the Salukis, 40-20.
Se'Quoia Allmond scored a career-high 17 points on a 2-for-2 day from deep in the loss, while Gift Uchenna tallied another double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds. Kayla Cooper was the third Saluki to score double-figures, posting 11 points against UAB.

Defensively, Southern held the Blazers to a field-goal percentage of 33% and 1-of-10 shooting from three-point range in the opening quarter.
UAB out-scored SIU, 18-17, in the second, as the Blazers bounced-back and posted percentages of 63.6% from the field and 50% from deep. At the half, Southern led, 37-35.
