The Salukis (4-3) offense exploded once again, with Jordan Bach, Trey Cutchen and Anthony Kodoma all collecting three hits.
Central Arkansas (4-4) got the scoring started early and often with seven runs in the first three innings.
The Salukis would respond with three of their own, but they took over the game in the fourth inning scoring seven runs. Cutchen led the inning off with a solo home run, his first of the season. After Bach tied the game with an RBI single, Jake Allgeyer put the Salukis ahead with a two-out, two-run single. Hesston Gray added another RBI single to give SIU seven runs in the inning.
Central Arkansas erased the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning with another four spot, but a two-run home run from Steven Loden put the Salukis up 12-11 entering the final frames of play.
Kade Coombe, Tanner Gerdes and Easton Dermody put together two scoreless innings from the bullpen, but an RBI groundout in the bottom of the eighth tied the contest.
After a scoreless ninth, Central Arkansas' Kade Seldomridge brought home the winning run with an RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning
Jake Combs made his second start for Southern but only pitched 1.1 innings after allowing six hits and four earned runs.
SIU reliever Anthony Pron took the loss for Southern, allowing two runs on two hits in 2.2 innings of work.
Hunter Alexander shined out of the bullpen for Central Arkansas, pitching three innings and allowing just two hits and zero runs.
UP NEXT
The Salukis come home for their first game at Itchy Jones Stadium Tuesday when they host Butler. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
