News | Saluki Softball Adds to Class of 2024 with RHP Kaytee Dahlstrom

Carbondale, Ill. - Southern Illinois added to its incoming class with its third pitcher to join the Salukis in the class of 2024 with Kaytee Dahlstrom. Dahlstrom is a strong, hard-throwing, righty with plenty of strikeout stuff.Â

A Sutter, California native, Dahlstrom is a multisport athlete at one of the top-ranked softball programs in the state, North State Sutter High School, where she's been named the Most Valuable Player twice.Â

Playing club ball for the All-American Softball School, Dahlstrom has spent four years as a starting pitcher, working with a very talented group of coaches including Kelly Jackson, former Arizona State standout. Jackson also spent several years playing professionally and on Team USA. Along with Jackson's guidance, Dahlstrom has pitched with Keri Casas (former Syracuse pitcher) and Michelle Granger (Team USA Gold medalist and University of California great).

During her time with All-American Mizuno Gold, she set the all-time record for most no-hitters as well as helping her team to a top-17 finish at PGF Nationals in 2023.Â

What Coach Sewell is Saying
"We had the opportunity to add a third pitcher to this class and we took it. Both Stuessy and Gipson give us fantastic hitting pitchers. Both are really different looks Dahlstrom will sure up our loss of Eberle in the power pitching category. Losing 2 quality arms to graduation is tough so we are excited to see Groff with these three arms. Dahlstrom is sitting mid-60s already so the goal is to have multiple looks on the mound. Gone are the days when programs like ours that are competing for deep runs into the postseason only have 1-2 arms. We've got to be able to show high RPI teams multiple looks on the mound without wearing one arm out."
