Preview | SIU Set to Host MAC Championship

CARBONDALE, Ill.--Â The Southern Illinois Swimming and Diving men's team is set to host the 2024 Mid-American Conference (MAC) Championship in Shea Natatorium starting Wed. March 6th through Sat March 9th.Â

The MAC Championship will feature the following teams:Â
Ball State
Evansville
Miami (Ohio)
Missouri StateÂ
Southern IllinoisÂ
UIC
ValparaisoÂ

The men's team heads into the championship off a dual meet victory against MAC opponent, Ball State. The Salukis fended off the Cardinals 181-118 on Feb 10th.Â
Â
Key Salukis to look out for during the Championship include Alex Santiago, the two time MAC Swimmer of the Week who ended the regular season on a three meet streak of finishing in first in the 50-yard freestyle. Another key Saluki is Jack Khrypunov, also two time MAC Swimmer of the Week this season. Khrypunov recently set a school record in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:43.06.Â

Day one of the MAC Championship will begin at 6 p.m. C.T. with the 200-medley relay followed by the 800 freestyle relay.Â
