CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The Southern Illinois men's swimming and diving team wrapped up the third day of the MAC Championship still in third place with 428.5 points.Â

The Salukis started the preliminary session off strong with a first place finish in the 100-yard butterfly by Jack Khrypunov, his finishing time of 46.32 broke the current pool record that was set in 2022.Â

In the 200-yard freestyle Alex Santiago had the third place finish with a time of 1:37.38. Benedek Andor also had a third place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a finishing time of 54.35.Â

In the last preliminary event Jered Moore had the top finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a 46.91 finishing time.Â

FinalsÂ
The Salukis had two first place victories during tonight's finals session. The first came in the 200-yard freestyle by Alex Santiago with a time of 1:36.63. The relay group of Alex Santiago, Donat Csuvarszki, Nicolas Lanuza and Benedek Andor took home the 200-yard freestyle championship with their first place finish in 1:18.00!Â

Jack Khrypunov had the second place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 46.48, followed by fellow Saluki Nicolas Lanuza in third with a finishing time of 47.43.Â

The final day of the MAC Championship will begin tomorrow, Friday March 8th with the preliminary session starting at 10:30 a.m. C.T. followed by finals at 6 p.m. C.T.. All sessions of the MAC Championship can be streamed on the MAC website.Â
