Recap | Salukis Dominate Doubleheader in Home Opener

Maddia Groff and Madi Eberle both tossed complete games for the Salukis as the pair allowed zero earned runs on the day. Groff fanned a career-high 10 while giving up just two hits in her first-ever game at Charlotte West Stadium.Â
Eberle made her first start at Charlotte West since the 2023 MVC Tournament where she went 4-0 and was named the MVC Tournament MVP. Eberle threw all six innings for the Salukis, finishing with three strikeouts and just allowing a pair of hits herself.Â
SIU hit a total of four home runs on the day, including a walk-off from Sidney Jones as her two-run home run put the Salukis past the run rule in the sixth inning. Jones finished the game going 2-for-4 as she now totaled two home runs on the season.
Jackie Lis hit a home run in both games as she now totals four on the season. Lis hit a two-run blast in the first inning against Loyola giving the Salukis a 2-0 advantage out the gate. She followed that up with a three-run shot against Green Bay giving her a total of five RBIs on the day. Rylie Hamilton added some insurance in the fifth with a solo shot, giving her her fourth home run of the season as she and Lis lead the team
The Salukis have now won six-straight games as they improve to 13-4 on the year with two games remaining before Valley play begins.
The Salukis are back tomorrow for another doubleheader beginning once again at 1:30 PM as they take on Green Bay and Loyola to close out the Coach B Classic.Â
