Recap | Women's Soccer Gets Second Straight Win Against IU-Indianapolis

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois University women's soccer team (2-0-2)Â got its second-straight win of the season over IU-Indianapolis. The Salukis defeated the Jaguars, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon.Â
"I just thought tactically we were really good today and were able to go deep to the bench and we had our chance,"Â head coach Graeme Orr said.Â
The Salukis scored two unanswered goals against the Jaguars. SIU opened the scoring in the 21st minute of play with Marta Forne finding the back-of-the-net. Forne's goal was assisted by McKensey Bunch and Sophia Schlicklin.Â
The score remained 1-0 until the 64th minute when Brooklyn Maier scored with an assist from Kylie McDermott which gave SIU a 2-0 lead. Seven minutes later, Schlicklin was able to score and put the Salukis up 3-0. The goal was the freshman's second of the campaign.Â
In the 88th minute of play, IU-Indianapolis was able to connect on an attack and avoid the shutout. The final score after 90 minutes was 3-1.Â
Fabiana Solano started in her fourth game for Southern Illinois. Solano faced four shots-on-goal and made three saves.Â
The Salukis will be back in action on Thursday, Aug. 29, at 7 p.m. at Missouri-Kansas City.Â
