CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois University men's golf team will head to Madison, Wis. to compete in the Badger Invitational on Sunday, Sept. 29. The Salukis will face-off against 16 other teams in a three-day tournament. Starting Sunday, each team will play 18 holes each day of the tournament.
The Salukis will send a five-man team to compete in the Badger Invitational - Anthony De Schutter, Frank Bellino, Leon Heitz, Luke Lasley, and Oliver Ulrich.
The Badger Invitational will be held at the University Ridge Golf Course. This course spans 7,286 yards and is a par-72 event. University Ridge was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and was opened in 1991. This course plays host to the American Family Championship, a PGA tour event since 2016.
The Salukis will look to bounce back after a tough finish at the Purdue Fall Invitational where they finished tied for tenth with a score of 882 (+18). After a slow start from Heitz and Bellino, both men rallied and finished the tournament shooting under par in the last two rounds. They will look to carry momentum into the Badger Invitational.
Oliver Ulrich is coming off a top-10 finish in the individual tournament at the Purdue Fall Invitational. He finished with a score of 215 (+2). The last round of his performance saw him shoot a score of 70 (-1).
