Preview | Salukis look to continue momentum, host Saluki Bash beginning Friday

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois Women's Volleyball will host the Saluki Bash as they look to continue their hot start Friday, September 6. The Salukis are joined by Eastern Illinois, Jackson State, and Memphis, who will play three neutral-site games in the round-robin-style tournament.

WEEKEND SCHEDULE:

Friday: vs. Jackson State, 10 a.m., ESPN+
Friday: vs. Memphis, 7 p.m., ESPN+
Saturday: vs. Eastern Illinois, 1:30 p.m., ESPN+

SERIES HISTORY:

SIU leads the all-time series with Eastern Illinois 14-12, but the Panthers have won four of the last five, including the previous matchup in the 2023 Saluki Bash in which they swept the Salukis 3-0 on September 9, 2023.
The Salukis have played Jackson State once in school history on September 14, 2018, a 3-0 sweep by SIU.
Southern leads Memphis 14-7 having last played on January 23, 2021, a 3-2 Saluki victory.

QUICK HITS:

Kelly Franklin won the Tournament MVP at the Betty Austin Invitational after tallying 17 kills and 12 digs in the penultimate game Sunday versus Oral Roberts. The 17 kills were a career-high.
Franklin and teammates Annabelle Sulish and Anna Jaworski were named to the All-Tournament Team at the Betty Austin Invitational.
The Salukis are looking to start a season 4-0 for the second year in a row, a feat they have not accomplished since 1984-85.
Memphis Head Coach Sean Burdette is the father of SIU middle hitter Brinley Burdette.
