CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois Women's Volleyball dropped its final match of the Saluki Bash losing 3-0 to Eastern Illinois Saturday in Carbondale at the Banterra Center.
Eastern Illinois' Katie Kopshever led the way with 18 kills, more than double the next-highest total on her team.
Southern's Annabelle Sulish notched her third double-double on the season with 10 kills and 12 digs. Freshman Eva Krakowski provided a spark with five kills and three blocks from the middle.
Set one was a back-and-forth affair with 12 ties and four lead changes, but the Panthers (3-1) edged out the Salukis and took the set.
Set two featured prolonged runs from both teams, but the result was the same as Eastern Illinois took the set 25-22 and claimed a 2-0 match lead.
The Panthers took an early 7-3 lead in set three and never looked back, scoring the final seven points in a row and finishing the sweep of Southern Illinois.
Eastern Illinois finished with the tournament's best record, going 3-0. Jackson State, Memphis, and Southern Illinois all finished 1-2. For a full breakdown, check out the Tournament Central page.
