
Wingate and McCray Earn Spots on MVFC All-Newcomer Team

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Defensive end Donnie Wingate and wide receiver Fabian McCray of the Southern Illinois University football team have been awarded spots on the Missouri Valley Football Conference All-Newcomer Team, which was announced by the conference on Tuesday.
Wingate was also an All-MVFC Honorable Mention, which was revealed yesterday.
The defensive end from Choctaw, Okla., finished the year with 37 tackles, 6.0 tackles for loss, 4.0 sacks, and one interception. Wingate ranked second on the team in sacks and third in TFL in 2025.
Wingate recorded a season-high 2.0 TFL and 2.0 sacks on Sept. 20 at Southeast Missouri State. Two weeks later, the Choctaw, Okla., native registered an interception against Indiana State on Oct. 4, the first of his career.
On Nov. 1, Wingate had a career-high seven tackles at Murray State. The defensive end also posted 1.5 TFL and 1.0 sack against the Racers.
McCray earned a spot on the All-Newcomer Team after tallying 39 receptions, 543 yards, and three touchdowns. The senior averaged 13.9 yards-per-catch and had a season-long of 63 yards, which came on Sept. 6 at Purdue.
The senior wide receiver out of Chicago, Ill., found the endzone on three separate occasions: Aug. 30 vs. Thomas More, Sept. 13 at UT Martin, and Sept. 20 at SEMO.
McCray topped 80 receiving yards twice, including a season-high 97 yards on six receptions against North Dakota on Oct. 18. The veteran wideout also had six receptions and 82 yards at Youngstown State on Nov. 8.
