The women's team was last in action at Vanderbilt on February 1. SIU defeated the Commodores 154-108.
Over the day's 14 events, 26 of the podium spots belonged to either a Saluki individual or a relay team. And nine of the meet's first-place finishers were Salukis as well.
Olivia Herron was the star of the day. She met NCAA "B" standards three separate times and also set new program and MVC records in the 100-yard breaststroke and the 400-yard IM. Meanwhile, Celia Pulido met "B" standards twice.
Herron was later recognized for her efforts against Vanderbilt by being named the MVC Women's Swimmer of the Week. This was the second straight competition where Herron earned the title and was her third time being named Swimmer of the Week this season. In addition to her two record-breaking swims, Herron placed first in two other events: the 200-yard medley relay and 200-yard breaststroke.
