CARBONDALE, Ill. – Southern Illinois softball (22-15, 13-1) is back in Carbondale this weekend for a three-game series against the Braves of Bradley (18-21, 7-7). SIU is returning to Missouri Valley Conference play versus the Braves after its Wednesday, non-conference win against Missouri of the SEC.

Last Time Out
Softball spent two days in Missouri this past week, beating Missouri State on Tuesday, 6-3, before taking down Missouri, 5-3 on Wednesday.
Six different SIU players drove in a run against the Lady Bears, including Amanda Knutson with a solo home run. Anna Carder and Mikaela Coburnn both had mutli-hit games with Carder having three and Coburn having two. In the circle, McKenzie Newcomb earned the win after allowing no earned runs in 4.1 innings pitched.
Southern then traveled to Missouri to defeat the Tigers, 5-3. Emily Williams had the biggest hit of the game thanks to her three-run home run in the fourth inning. Jackie Lis had two extra-base hits, including a triple that drove in a run. Freshman Kaytee Dahlstrom was impressive against the SEC opponent, allowing a single earned run in four innings to earn the win.
The Series and the Matchup
All-time, SIU leads Bradley in the shared series, 71-37. The two met for a three-game series last season at Bradley in April, with Southern winning the first two games on April 5 and 6 before Bradley won the series finale on April 7. Bradley last won in Carbondale on April 22, 2023.
Bradley visits Carbondale with an overall record of 18-21 and is 7-7 in conference play. They most recently hosted SIUE on Tuesday; Bradley won that game, 9-4. The Braves' last MVC series came last weekend when they lost two of three against Valparaiso in Peoria. Bradley currently sits in fifth place in the MVC, which is where it was projected to finish in the MVC preseason poll.
