CARBONDALE, Ill. – Southern Illinois softball (27-17, 17-3) welcomes Murray State (19-23, 9-12) to Charlotte West Stadium this weekend for the final homestand of the 2025 season. The Salukis will also hold their Senior Day ceremony following game two of Saturday's doubleheader.

Last Time Out
Southern played UT Martin in a midweek game this past Wednesday, where the Salukis downed the Skyhawks 5-0. All of SIU's runs came in the first, with Addi Baker driving in two runs and Mikaela Coburn and Sage Grann collecting an RBI each. In the circle, freshmen Emma Gipson and Kaytee Dahlstrom combined for the shutout. Each pitcher allowed one hit and they struck out a combined seven batters.
The Series and the Matchup
All-time, SIU and Murray State have faced off a combined 22 times; the Salukis lead the series 16-5-1. They last met in the MVC Tournament last season where the Salukis walked off the Racers 2-1 in the first round. Right before the playoff began, Southern swept Murray State in a three-game series at Murray State on May 3 and 4. The last time the squads faced off in Carbondale was in April of 2023; the Salukis won two games of a three-game set. That series featured the Racers' last win against Southern, a 4-0 win on April 28.
Murray State visits Carbondale with an overall record of 19-23 and a 9-12 mark in conference play and are winners of five straight, all in MVC play. They are coming off a three-game sweep of Evansville last weekend, and took two out of three against Northern Iowa during the weekend of April 11.
