Southern Illinois (31-13) overcame an early deficit by scoring two runs in the bottom of the second inning on a bases-loaded walk by Matt Schark and an RBI single by Jaxon Holder. Holder had a productive day, contributing three hits, including a double, and driving in a run.
SIU steadily built on its advantage throughout the game, plating runs in five consecutive innings from the fourth through the eighth. Michael Mylott delivered a key blow in the eighth inning with a two-run home run - his seventh of the season - while finishing with two hits and two RBIs.
Matthew Simay and Tim Simay were instrumental in nearly every scoring rally for the Salukis.
