CARBONDALE, Ill. – The school year has begun at Southern Illinois and athletics continue to reeve up as well. Soccer's season marches on with two games this week after their season-opening win last week and volleyball gets closer to the start of their season with an exhibition match
Soccer
Soccer opened their season last Thursday with a 4-0 win over Eastern Illinois. SIU's four goals is the most in a single game in program history, and those goals came courtesy of Dory Latenser , Aylie Haycock, Sophia Schlicklin, and Olivia Anderson. Schlicklin also added an assist to her statline.
The season continues with a pair of games this week. On Thursday, Aug. 21, the Salukis play host to SEMO at 6 p.m. Then, on Sunday, Aug. 24, the team hits the road for the first time this year with a trip to IU-Indy at 1 p.m.
Volleyball
The volleyball squad takes a step closer to their 2025 season on Saturday, Aug. 23, with an exhibition match at UT-Martin.
