Swim and Dive Takes on Eastern Illinois, Missouri This Weekend

CARBONDALE, Ill. – After having last weekend off from competition, Southern Illinois swim and dive returns to action this weekend with trips to Eastern Illinois and Missouri.

Last Time Out
The Salukis were last in action on January 17 when the women's squad took down Vanderbilt 183.5-75.5. Event winners for the Salukis included Lívia Munkácsi-Nagy, Susy Hernandez, Liseska Gallegos Gutierrez, Olivia Herron, and Brooklyn Anderson. As for the men, their last meet was the day prior when they defeated McKendree 193-107.
Weekly Honors
Following their last meet, the Salukis earned three weekly awards from the Missouri Valley Conference. Herron was named the Women's Swimmer of the Week after breaking two school records against McKendree in the 200-butterfly and 200-IM. Meanwhile, Willem Huggins was named the Men's Swimmer of the Week after helping the Salukis win two relay events and winning two individual events. Finally, Lucas Lauzon was the Men's Diver of the Week after taking gold in 1- and 3-meter dives against McKendree.
The Matchup
Eastern Illinois' men's team rolls into this matchup with a 1-4 record. They are coming off three straight losses dating back to December 6. Their last win came on October 25 against Olivet Nazarene. As for the women's team, they are 0-5 on the year. Both Eastern squads visited SIU in the middle of November for the A3 Performance, where both teams placed fifth.
Missouri is coming off a split result at Kentucky. The women's team picked up a 180-120 win while the men's squad fell 168.5-131.5. The men's squad has not won a head-to-head meet since they took down McKendree 213.5-85.5 on November 1. The Salukis and Tigers have crossed path before this year when the Salukis sent select swimmers to the Mizzou Invitational in late November, where both Missouri squads took first place.
