CARBONDALE, Ill. - Michael Lindauer of the Southern Illinois University football coaching staff has been promoted to quarterbacks coach, as announced by head coach Nick Hill on Thursday.
"I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to join Coach Hill and this awesome staff as the quarterbacks coach at Southern Illinois University," Lindauer said. "Having played under Coach Hill for four years and then GA'ing for the previous two, I have the utmost respect for what he does on a daily basis for this program and the vision he has for this place."
Lindauer was previously a graduate assistant for the Salukis and was in the role for the 2024 and 2025 seasons. In 2025, Lindauer primarily worked with the offense as an offensive assistant.
The former quarterback started his collegiate career at Cincinnati and was there from 2019-20. In 2020, Lindauer played behind NFL quarterback Desmond Ridder.
Lindauer transferred to Southern Illinois in 2021 and spent the rest of his playing career in Carbondale. The Evansville, Ind., native missed the 2021 season due to injury and served as Nic Baker's backup from 2022-23.
In 2024, Lindauer began the season as a graduate assistant on the coaching staff before being activated in Week 9. From there, Lindauer went on to play in four games and made one start, which came in a record-breaking performance against Murray State. The former quarterback threw for a program-record seven passing touchdowns against the Racers.
"At 25 years old, I'm honored to have the chance to accept this role, and grateful for Coach Hill's trust in my ability to do so," Lindauer said. "This place is very special to me, and I couldn't be more excited for this opportunity. Go Dawgs!"
