CARBONDALE, Ill. – Southern Illinois University Track & Field has added Cameron Bolt to its coaching staff as an assistant coach working with the Salukis' jumps and combined-events groups.
Bolt joins the program in fall 2026, bringing coaching experience across the youth, high school, club and collegiate levels.
Prior to Southern Illinois, Bolt served as an assistant track and field coach at Nicholls State University, where he worked with athletes across the sprints, jumps, throws and combined events.
During his time at Nicholls State, Bolt's athletes produced 20 indoor top-10 marks and 29 outdoor top-10 marks, along with school records across several events, including the 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, 4x100-meter relay, long jump, triple jump and high jump. The program also produced an NCAA Division I East Regional qualifier in the men's 200 meters — the first male athlete in school history to achieve that distinction.
Before beginning his collegiate coaching career, Bolt spent eight years coaching in Washington with the Cascade Striders and Bolt Track and Field Club, where he served as a head coach, founder and president. His athletes achieved success at the state, national and international levels, producing 225 national qualifiers, 15 All-Americans, four national champions, 148 state qualifiers, 66 state finalists and 11 state champions.
Bolt's coaching background also includes stops at Lake Washington High School and The Evergreen State College. At Evergreen State, he served as an assistant coach for jumps and combined events, helping athletes establish school records in the women's high jump, men's decathlon and men's pole vault while also coaching an NAIA national qualifier in the women's high jump.
Throughout his coaching career, Bolt's athletes have earned additional honors that include state records, high school records, state championships, Nike Outdoor Nationals championships and international recognition.
A native of North Bend, Washington, Bolt earned a bachelor's degree in biomedical science with a minor in chemistry from Northern Arizona University. He also holds multiple USATF and USTFCCCA certifications, including USATF Level 3 certification in sprints/hurdles/relays, Level 2 certifications in jumps and sprints/hurdles/relays, and specialist credentials in jumps, combined events and advanced hurdles.
Bolt brings a scientifically grounded, athlete-centered approach to Southern Illinois, with an emphasis on technical development, event-specific preparation and building strong relationships with student-athletes. At SIU, Bolt will work with the Salukis' jumps and combined-events groups as the program continues preparations for the 2026-27 track and field season.
