CARBONDALE, Ill. – Southern Illinois women's basketball (8-13, 5-7) returns home on Friday night after a three-game road trip when they host Illinois State (14-9, 8-4) at 6 p.m.

Last Time Out
The Salukis last played against Valparaiso on Saturday, where SIU won 82-73 in a hard fought match. Indya Green led the Saluki with 29 points, tying her career high in that category. Green also snagged 14 rebounds to complete the double-double. Alayna Kraus dropped 18 points, while Kayla Cooper and Tkiyah Nelson hit double-digit points as well. Nelson also helped facilitate the offense with her eight assists. Southern had one of their best shooting games of the season against the Beacons, hitting 41.7% of their three-point attempts.

The Matchup
In their long-running shared history, which dates back to the 1961-62 season, Illinois State leads the Salukis 73-50. The two met up last in last season's Missouri Valley Tournament, where the Redbirds dominated the Salukis 88-48 to extend their current win streak to eight. SIU's last win over Illinois State came in February of 2022, with their last win in Carbondale coming just a month before that.

Illinois State rolls into this matchup 14-9 overall with an 8-4 mark in conference play. They currently ride a four-game win streak dating back to January 25, and it includes wins over Indiana State, Northern Iowa, Bradley, and, most recently, Drake. The Redbirds' last loss came on January 22 at UIC. With that loss, Illinois State is 7-1 in their last eight games.
