CARBONDALE, Ill. – A three-game home stretch closes on Thursday for Southern Illinois women's basketball (9-14, 6-8) when they play host to the Panthers of UNI (12-12, 8-6).

Last Time Out
The Salukis are coming off a 56-53 loss to Bradley on Sunday. Alayna Kraus led all scorers with her 18 points while Indya Green collected a 16-point, 13-rebound double-double. SIU's defense was strong all game, holding the Braves to 35.6% shooting from the field and 15% from beyond the arc. Unfortunately, it was the fourth quarter that sunk the Salukis as the Braves outscored Southern by seven points to pull ahead in the final minutes of action.

Weekly Honors
Kraus was named the MVC Newcomer of the Week for the week of February 16. That came off a week in which she scored a career-high 30 points in an 86-60 win over Illinois State on February 13 and then game-high 18 points against Bradley on February 15.

The Matchup
UNI holds a 50-35 advantage over Southern all time and have won their previous six matchups. They met earlier this season on January 4 at UNI, where the Panthers won 91-64, Southern's largest loss in conference play this season. SIU last claimed victory over the Panthers in 2022 when they won 64-60 in Carbondale.

The Panthers enter this matchup with a 12-12 record while they are 8-6 in the Missouri Valley Conference. Prior to their last game, in which UNI defeated Indiana State 91-79, the Panthers had lost two straight to Belmont and Bradley. Overall, UNI has struggled as of late, winning just two of their last six games.
