Huggins Earns Third MVC Men's Swimmer of the Week Title

CARBONDALE, Ill. - On Wednesday, the Missouri Valley Conference announced its weekly swim and dive awards, and Willem Huggins of Southern Illinois was named the Men's Swimmer of the Week, marking the third time the sophomore has earned the honor this season.
Across SIU's two meets this past weekend, including Friday's win at Eastern Illinois and Saturday's match at Missouri, Huggins collected three individual wins in the 200-freestyle, 100-freestyle, and 100-backstroke. Huggins was also a member of the winning 400-medley and 200-freestyle relay teams against EIU. Versus Eastern, Huggins helped those two relay teams establish new pool records at EIU's Padovan Pool with a 3:18.58 time in the 400-medley and 1:22.03 mark in the 200-freestyle. Huggins also set a pool record in his 100-freestyle win (45.10).Â
