Salukis Climb Six Spots in National Rankings after AGC Performance

Carbondale, Ill. - Southern Illinois Women's Golf completed its first campaign at the Advanced Golf Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday in Palm City, Florida. The Salukis finished 17th but showed major improvement from day 1 to day 3. After accomplishing her highest tournament finish of the year at the Powercat invitational in October, junior Kayla Sayyalinh continued her strong play finishing 9th in the ACG.

Coach Samantha Sambursky was impressed with Sayyalinh's performance and said it reflected the work the team put in over the last few months.

"Her top 10 individual finish putting two under par rounds is a great start of what's to come the rest of the season," she said.

Here is how the Saluki golfers fared:

·       Amelia Zingler: 92^nd (+34)
·       Ella Overstreet: 76^th(+24)
·       Hannia Gastelum: 97^th (+49)
·       Allie Santos: 90^th (+31)

"I was really encouraged by how we competed in our first spring tournament back," Sambursky said. "The team made progress each day, and that reflects the culture and work ethic we're building."
