CARBONDALE, Ill. – We are down to the final two games of the 2025-26 women's basketball regular season, and both a road games for Southern Illinois (9-18, 6-12). On Monday, they head to Belmont (17-11, 13-4) for make up a game originally scheduled for January 24.

Last Time Out
Southern was in action on Saturday for Senior Day against Drake; the Salukis ended up falling 83-68. Kayla Cooper hit the 20-point mark thanks in large part to going four-for-four from beyond the arc. Indya Green and Jeniah Thompson, who were honored pregame during the Senior Day festivities, joined Cooper in double-digit points with 11 and 10. Additionally, Tkiyah Nelson had a nice game distributing the ball as she dished out seven assists as well as grabbed six rebounds.

Makeup Game
This game at Belmont is a makeup game from their scheduled meetup on January 24, which was canceled due to inclement weather. Because of this rescheduling, this game will be SIU's third game in five day.

The Matchup
SIU is still winless all-time against the Bruins, with Belmont holding a 9-0 advantage over Southern. They met earlier this season on December 29, 2025, in Carbondale when the Bruins won 68-56. The Bruins are 3-0 all-time when hosting the Salukis.

Belmont enters this match with a 17-11 overall record while they are 13-4 in conference play. They are coming off an 88-79 win over Indiana State on Saturday during their own Senior Day. However, prior to that win, Belmont had been struggling and lost two straight to Illinois State and Bradley.
