Regular Season Comes to Close on Sunday for Women’s Basketball

CARBONDALE, Ill. – The 2025-26 women's basketball regular season finale is here as Southern Illinois (9-19, 6-13) travels to Evansville (7-23, 5-14) on Sunday.

Last Time Out
SIU has been out of action for nearly a week, last playing on Monday when they lost 83-64 at Belmont. Jeniah Thompson led the charge on offense with her team-high 17 points while Alayna Kraus and Indya Green joined her in double-digits with 15 and 13. Green also snagged 13 rebounds to complete the double-double. The Salukis could do little to slow down Belmont's offense, who hit over 52% of their field goal attempts.

The Matchup
Southern currently leads the all-time series 42-29, but Evansville won when they met up earlier this season as they took down the Salukis 75-70 in Carbondale. Southern won their previous matchup, 72-69, on February 7, 2025. The Salukis have not won in Evansville since December, 2022.

The Aces enter Sunday's game with a 7-23 overall record while they are 5-14 in conference play. They currently ride a three-game losing streak after losses to Drake, Murray State, and Bradley. Their last win came on February 21 against UNI, but besides that, the Aces have lost six of their last seven games.
