Southern Illinois finished seventh at the Colonel Classic in Richmond, Kentucky, in a field of 10 teams. The event took place March 30-31.
The Salukis shot a 961 (+97) total, posting rounds of 322 (+34), 320 (+32) and 319 (+31).
Kayla Sayyalinh led the Dawgs, finishing tied for seventh individually. She shot +5 in Round 1, +4 in Round 2 and +6 in Round 3. It marks the third time this season she has recorded a top-10 finish.
Four Salukis finished in the top 40: Calli Smith tied for 25th (+23), Allie Santos tied for 33rd (+26) and Amelia Zingler tied for 38th (+28). Ella Overstreet finished at +35, while Hannia Gastelum finished at +46.
Head Coach Sam Sambursky sees a team making progress.
"We didn't have any perfect rounds, but there were a lot of small wins we can build on. Kayla put together a solid 54 holes in windy conditions.  I'm excited to see how she finishes the season after the confidence of another top 10 finish."
