Danielson Named MVC Pitcher of the Week for First Time in Career

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Freshman Brooklynn Danielson of the Southern Illinois University softball team has earned Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week honors, as announced by the league on Tuesday.
This is the first time Danielson has received the award in her career, and is also the first time a Saluki has won it this season. The last time a Southern Illinois pitcher earned the accolade was on April 28, 2025 (McKenzie Newcomb).
In three appearances last week against Evansville and Drake, Danielson went 2-0 with a 1.00 ERA and 13 strikeouts in a team-leading 14.0 innings pitched. The freshman allowed just two runs and three walks with an opposing batting average of .196.
The freshman started off her week with six scoreless innings vs. Evansville on April 7. Danielson allowed just three hits, one walk, and had two strikeouts in the win against the Purple Aces.
Three days later, Danielson recorded a career-high nine strikeouts in another six scoreless innings at Drake on April 10. The right-handed pitcher gave up four hits and one walk on Friday.
Danielson and the Salukis will return home to host Northern Iowa this weekend at Charlotte West Stadium. The series will begin with a doubleheader on Friday at 2 p.m. and conclude on Saturday at 1 p.m. for Senior Day and the annual 'Bark in the Park' game with St. Francis CARE.
