CARBONDALE, Ill. – On Friday, the Missouri Valley Conference announced its State Farm MVC Good Neighbor Award winners for the winter season, and Kelowna Ngoyi of women's basketball was named Southern Illinois' recipient.
The award honors exceptional student-athletes, highlighting achievements on and off the playing field. Ngoyi currently holds a 3.91 GPA in Computer Science and plans to graduate in May after finishing her sophomore year. She has also made the Dean's List in each of her three, complete semesters while also being named to the 2024-25 MVC Honor Roll.
Ngoyi also has plenty of community service work on her resume. She has helped with the Don't Dirty the Dale community clean-up project, visited the Prairie Living Nursing Home, and participated in the Special Olympics Adopt-A-Duck fundraising campaign. The Montreal native has also volunteered at recess at Lewis Elementary, the 9/11 Stair Climb Challenge, and Vacation Bible School at Hopewell Baptist Church.
