Three Salukis among WGCA All-American Scholars

CARBONDALE, Ill. — Three Southern Illinois University golfers were named to the 2025–26 WGCA All-American Scholar Team, earning one of the most demanding academic honors in collegiate athletics.

Freshman Hannia Gastelum and juniors Calli Smith and Amelia Zingler were recognized Monday as part of a national group of 1,617 student-athletes who excelled both in competition and in the classroom.

Their selections highlight SIU's strong academic performance and the consistency each player brings to the program.

WGCA All-American Scholar Criteria
To earn the honor, student-athletes must:

Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher
Be an amateur and on the team roster through the end of the season
Compete in at least 50% of the team's competitive rounds through the conference championship

Gastelum, Smith, and Zingler's achievements place them among the nation's top academic performers in women's golf and underscore SIU's commitment to excellence on and off the course.
