Salukis Wrap Up Play at The Velvet

PADUCAH, Ky. — Southern Illinois women's golf wrapped up play at The Velvet on Tuesday at the Country Club of Paducah.
The Salukis finished the two-day tournament tied for ninth in the 14-team field at 70-over par. Southern Illinois shared ninth place with Loyola Chicago.
The tournament marked the second event of the fall season for SIU after opening the year at the Bear Brawl in Greeley, Colorado. The Salukis entered The Velvet with a lineup of Mackenzie Thomas, Zeme Moore, Maria Eugenia Peres, Poppy Norcott and Callie Smith, while Taylor Pacheco competed as an individual.
The Velvet was played over 54 holes at the par-72, 6,030-yard Country Club of Paducah, with 36 holes contested Monday and the final 18 on Tuesday.
West Florida captured the team title at 18-over par after winning a playoff. Mariana Arronte of West Florida earned individual medalist honors at 2-under par.
