Feb. 7, 2002
CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois University athletic department announced it has established a partnership with the Maytag Corp. facility located in Herrin.
Athletic Director Paul Kowalczyk said that Maytag has furnished the department with six new washers and 10 dryers to assist the school in the renovation of its equipment room.
"We are extremely pleased to partner with our good neighbors at the Herrin Maytag plant," Kowalczyk said. "Their support of Saluki athletics is greatly appreciated."
The equipment room is using the Maytag Performa line of oversize capacity, quiet series washers and dryers.
"These new machines allow us to be more efficient in the service we provide our student-athletes and coaches," Kowalczyk added. "Maytag's reputation of quality and product performance is something we strive to emulate in our athletic department."
Maytag will be recognized Saturday at the men's basketball game versus Drake.
"The employees of the Maytag - Herrin facility are excited to have this opportunity to help support the SIU athletic department," said Chuck Parke, Vice President of Operations at Maytag in Herrin. "Many of our employees are big fans of the Salukis, and we are proud to have our product at SIU."
