Women's Tennis Defeats Creighton, Drake Squeaks By Salukis

Omaha, Neb. - Des Moines, Iowa - The second conference win for the women's tennis team came easily Friday afternoon as they defeated Creighton, 5-1. SIU jumped to 5-10 on the season with a 2-0 MVC record, but Drake would end the Salukis three match winning streak. DU slipped by, 4-3, on Saturday to drop SIU to 5-11 overall, 2-1 in the MVC.
Against the Bluejays the women's tennis team snagged 5 of 6 singles matches with junior Alejandra Blanco, and freshmen Maria Blanco, Zuzana Palovic, Zoya Honarmand, and Sophie Bedard all getting singles wins. Doubles matches were not played.
The Bulldogs ended SIU's hope of going undefeated in conference play taking 4 of 6 singles matches and sweeping the crucial doubles point, which was the difference in the match. The Nos. 2 and 3 doubles matches were won by a score of 9-8 over the Salukis.
