Southern Illinois Univ. Carbondale Launches New Official Athletic Web Site As Part Of FANSonly Network

CARBONDALE, IL. - The Southern Illinois University Carbondale athletic department, in conjunction with Student Advantage's FANSonly Network, is expanding efforts to provide fans with complete coverage of Saluki athletics through the launch of a comprehensive official athletic website located at SIUSalukis.com. The site, which launched today, is the only official source of information, merchandise, tickets, multimedia and more directly from the Salukis' athletic department.
The Southern Illinois University official athletic website will provide Saluki fans with complete information on all Southern Illinois University sports. Also included are photos, audio and video clips, event coverage, rosters, schedules and interactive promotions and games. Throughout the year, the site will also offer opportunities to interact online with Saluki players and coaches in addition to adding new information and features during the year.
"We're very excited to launch our new site and continue what we see as a new era in Saluki athletics. This is certainly a significant component of that because so many of our alums do not live in the area and the only access they have to what's happening with the Salukis is through the website and I can't think of a better service that we can provide them," said Paul Kowalczyk, SIU Athletics Director.
"Obviously it's the information age and we need to be on top of that. With FANSonly's technology and the almost instant updates our fans will be able to have the best of all worlds. They can scan for stories, get stats, get pictures and have all the information they could possibly want on any of our teams at any time. Additionally we can provide information about our athletic department such as our policies, compliance issues, marketing information, merchandising and tickets down the road. All those options are out there for us and we'll work into them as the relationship grows with FANSonly."

Live game coverage, player and coach biographies, statistics and special coach and student-athlete profiles will be on the site on a regular basis. The site will also include a feature for fans to register for updates to be delivered to the registrant's email account on a weekly basis.
The site is part of the FANSonly Network, which will help distribute Southern Illinois University sports news and information through its hub site located at www.fansonly.com. The FANSonly Network is regularly measured as a top-10 sports site by Media Metrix and now is the home to over 110 Official Athletic Sites.
