The "Trick or Treat for Charity Food Drive" sponsored by the Southern Illinois University athletics department was a huge success.
More than 60 student-athletes and coaches visited Carbondale neighborhoods Thursday night, asking for donations of non-perishable food items. The student-athletes walked from door to door and collected more than 1,000 cans of food to benefit the Carbondale Food Pantry, located at the University Baptist Church.
"The community support of this program was tremendous and made it a huge success," said Kristina Therriault, coordinator of student services.
