Swimming & Diving Teams Sweep MVC Diver Of The Week Awards

St. Louis, Mo. - For the second straight week, Southern Illinois University swept the Missouri Valley Conference Diver of the Week awards. On Tuesday, November 19, SIU's Devin Aikins and Andrea Johnson were honored for their outstanding performances by the MVC.
Johnson, a sophomore from Elburn, Ill., won the 1-meter and 3-meter dives against Drury College. Her scores of 233.78 and 224.03, respectively, are the fourth-best in the Valley this year. Her wins were crucial to the Salukis' 130-107 team victory. Johnson won the award for the third time this season, after being honored last week and on Oct. 2.
Aikins won his first MVC honor by sweeping the 1-meter and 3-meter dives in a narrow 123-120 win over Drury. His scores of 297.98 and 299.63, respectively, are second best in the Valley this year in both events. Both scores also set career-high marks for the sophomore from York, Penn.
The SIU men and women will wrap up their fall semester competition at the Northwestern Invite November 22-24. The event will be held at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill.
