The Mallory, N.Y. native began his athletic department career as a student worker 2000 and has since held many positions within Saluki Athletics. Prior positions have included graduate assistant for facilities (2003-2005), coordinator of arena operations (2005-2008), and director of athletic facilities and game operations (2008-2012).
Pettit was an integral team member involved in the 18-month $83 million Saluki Way Project that featured the construction of the 15,000 seat Saluki Stadium, a 50,000 square foot athletic support facility and a complete renovation of SIU Arena. Pettit also oversaw the $4.5 million renovation of Itchy Jones Stadium and the renovation of the indoor track surface.
Alongside his facilities duties, Pettit also oversees all championships hosted by Saluki Athletics, including IHSA, NCAA, MVC, and MAC events. He also sits on many campus wide committees.
Pettit received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and master's degree in business administration from Southern Illinois University. He and his wife Katie (English) Pettit and their two sons Spencer (5) and Finnegan (2) reside in nearby Christopher.
