Julie Beck Bio
Julie is a long time Saluki who has been involved in Saluki Athletics since 1981. She joined the Athletic Administrative staff in August 2000 after coaching Saluki Women's Basketball for 19 years. During her tenure as both assistant and head women's basketball coach the Salukis had a record of 333-186 which translates into winning 64 percent of their games. Over that time, SIU made four trips to the NCAA tournament, (Sweet 16 in 1987) three conference titles, a 39 straight game conference win streak, during the 1986-1987 seasons. In addition, Saluki Women's Basketball recorded seven 20-win seasons and four 19-win seasons.
Beck's coaching career began at the University of Missouri in the 1979-80 season as an assistant coach, but her association with Mizzou runs much deeper. A 1978 graduate of Missouri, she was a three-year letterwinner for the Tigers from 1975-79. During that time Tiger squads compiled a 73-27 record, including a 26-win season her senior year including a Big Eight tournament championship.
Julie's duties now include group & corporate ticket sales for Saluki Basketball and Football, event promotions, and coordination of special events such as the Saluki Hall of Fame, Saluki Scholar Banquet and others that occur within the Saluki Athletic Department.
During football season, she is responsible for corporate group sales in the Saluki Row tailgating area that brings thousands of fans to watch Saluki Football games.
Julie resides in Carbondale, and besides rooting for the Salukis loves St. Louis Cardinal Baseball.
