Jason Clay is an Associate Sports Information Director at Southern Illinois University and is in charge of all publicity efforts with the Saluki football and baseball programs. He came to SIU in September 2009 after working three years in the athletic media relations department at New Mexico State University.
In his time at SIU, Clay was in charge of Deji Karim's 2009 Walter Payton Award Campaign, where Karim finished third in the final voting for the award that goes to the most outstanding player in the FCS. He has successfully promoted six All-Americans, four Academic All-Americans and 10 first team All-Conference selections in two years working with the football program. Before Clay's arrival, the football program only had six Academic All-Americans in the previous 95 years in program history.
A native of Louisville, Colo., Clay graduated from the University of Colorado in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in economics.
In his three years at NM State, Clay worked with the football, women's basketball, tennis and softball programs while holding the title of Assistant Director of Media Relations.
He resides in Murphysboro, Ill.
