Mark Gazdik Bio
Mark Gazdik was named Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing at Southern Illinois University in September 2007.
A member of the Salukis' senior administration team, Gazdik directs all marketing, promotions, sales, game presentation and brand management for the Southern Illinois Department of Athletics. Gazdik also has direct oversight of Saluki Athletics' video services and group sales/special events departments.
In addition, Gazdik serves as the Director of Licensing for SIU, manages the department's retail partnerships in-venue and in Illinois Centre and University Malls, is the department's day-to-day contact with Southern Illinois' multimedia partner, Saluki Sports Properties and is administrator for the Saluki Cheerleaders and Shakers.
He also serves as the athletic department representative on the Southern Illinois University senior marketing and integrated marketing teams, as well as the Carbondale Chamber of Commerce "Saluki Pride" Committee.
Since Gazdik's arrival at SIU, season ticket sales have increased at least 17 percent for each ticketed sport; including a 39 percent increase in football season tickets and 25 percent increase in men's basketball season tickets. Ticket revenue records have also increased at least 15 percent for each ticketed sport during Gazdik's tenure, with overall ticket sales records rising 27 percent. The Saluki licensing program has also set record revenue numbers since Gazdik's arrival.
Within the University, Gazdik began a relationship with the SIU College of Business to develop an internship program and class projects to give students valuable experience in the sport marketing field. In the spring of 2010, Gazdik worked with the SIU College of Mass Communication and Media Arts to create opportunities for SIU Radio and Television students to earn class credit for producing games on the Salukis' new video boards at Saluki Stadium and SIU Arena.
Gazdik also served as one of the authors of the Salukis' successful NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Grant proposal that was awarded for the 2010-11 season.
Prior to arriving at SIU, Gazdik was the Assistant Director of Marketing at Xavier University for nearly two years where he oversaw the marketing and promotions for the Musketeers' women's basketball and Olympic sports programs, as well as department community outreach, fundraisers and special events. Gazdik also served as part of the corporate sales team, producer for men's basketball games, advisor to the X-treme Fans student group and adjunct professor in Xavier's Sport Administration Graduate Program.
Gazdik began his career as the Marketing Assistant at Xavier and also served as Assistant Director of Sports Marketing at the University of Delaware.
Gazdik, is a 2002 graduate of Xavier University with a degree in Sport Management. He received his master's in Sport Administration from Xavier in December 2004.
Mark and his wife, Stacy, reside in Carterville with their sons, Noah and Jack.
