Kevin D. Kendrick was named Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance at SIU on March 1, 2016. Kendrick came to Carbondale after serving in the same role at Alabama State University the previous three years.
At SIU, Kendrick oversees the University and athletic department's efforts to operate the intercollegiate athletics program in compliance with all NCAA, conference and University rules and guidelines. He is responsible for designing and implementing compliance monitoring systems, and providing rules education for student-athletes, staff and various constituencies. Other duties include submitting official reports, appeals, waiver requests and correspondence between the athletics program and the NCAA or conference office, and investigating and responding to allegations of noncompliance.
At Alabama State, Kendrick was responsible for the oversight of the Compliance Office, which included the coordination, planning and organization of all phases of the Hornets' NCAA compliance program and ensuring adherence to University, Southwestern Athletic Conference and NCAA rules and regulations. In addition, he was the liaison to the General Counsel, Financial Aid, Admissions and Registrar offices. He also served on the Alabama Athlete Agent Commission.
From 2011-13, Kendrick worked at Grambling State University as the Assistant Director of Compliance. During his tenure at Grambling, he oversaw the day-to-day operations of the Compliance Office. He was also responsible for assisting in the daily compliance duties, including overseeing the National Letter of Intent program. Kendrick started his compliance career as the Graduate Assistant and Compliance Assistant Intern at Arkansas State University, where he assisted the Assistant Athletic Director in monitoring and educating all coaches, faculty and staff.
The Atlanta, Ga. native was a member of the baseball team at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (2002-05) where he graduated in May 2006. He later earned a master's degree in Business Administration and is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
